A few callouts this week:
- Something I didn't mention the week of 2020-05-18, in commenting on the She-Ra post-s5 bounce, is that that was the first week Adora/Catra ousted Kara/Lena as the top ship by work count in a top-20 fandom, and that Adora/Catra has been the top ship every week since then. That's quite the sea change, actually: before this, Kara/Lena had topped the charts every week in 2020, and every week in 2019 with the exception of one week each for Blake Belladonna/Yang Xiao Long and Clarke/Lexa.
- Keep in mind that "top ship in a top-20 fandom" is not necessarily the same metric as "top ship" would be: because my algorithm considers additional works in one ship to have diminishing returns relative to a diversity of ships within a fandom, in theory a single-ship fandom could have thousands of works and not hit the top 20. I'm not aware of such a ship out there, and I think it's unlikely that people would write hundreds of works in one ship without considering any neighboring ships (and at a glance at my dataset, it looks like the largest fandom which really only has one ship this week is the highly-specific Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, with 12 works for Aerith Gainsborough/Tifa Lockhart). It's probably pretty safe to assume that for all but extremely unusual weeks, the top ship on my table is the top ship.
