High-level stats for week of 2022-01-11 - 2022-01-17

  • Total works categorized F/F on AO3: 6954 (-273 from last week)

  • Works I classified F/F: 4151 (-209 from last week) (2010 new, 2141 continued)

  • 0.83% of all 500737 AO3 works I've classified F/F were updated this week

A few callouts this week:

  • Lots of turnover this week! The top five is pretty stable, with Supergirl back in 3rd, and League of Legends rounding out 10 consecutive weeks in the charts (8 of them at number one).
  • Motherland: Fort Salem is off the charts after 24 consecutive weeks; with a relatively strong 27 works this week, it'll be back. It's replaced by Batman, back for the first time since September. Less notably: The Wilds are Virtual Streamer Animated Characters are on, Killing Eve, Miraculous Ladybug, and Wynonna Earp are off.
  • The appearance of Black Widow out of nowhere is on the graph is a chart artifact: both Black Widow (primarily Kate/Yelena) and MCU (primarily Wanda/Natasha and Maria/Natasha) had enough strength in non-cross-tagged works to chart independently this week. It happens. I'll try to clean up my tags so everything shows up under MCU in future weeks. The right way to think about this is that MCU stayed stable at chart position 6 or 7, on the strength of those three ships.
  • Finally, chart anniversaries: Harry Potter celebrates 160 consecutive weeks on the chart. You may be surprised by how relatively low that is, but Harry Potter was not consistently on the F/F chart every week until 2019. Boku no Hero Academia, which hit the charts in the second half of 2017 and hasn't looked back, celebrates 200 consecutive appearances.
