Femslash Week In Review side content: some growing F/F fandoms as of 2023-05-01

This is a new kind of post I'm trying out. The weekly stats tell us what fandoms are biggest overall, but a fandom doesn't need to have 150 new works a week, or even 50 new works a week, to be something exciting that you, the interested F/F reader, might want to check out. If you want to find out about media of interest to femslash fans, it might be more useful to know what's growing fast, than to know what's currently biggest.

Here are a few fandom tags that have twice as many total F/F works now as they did three months ago. Maybe they'll eventually become huge fandoms. Probably most of them won't. But whatever is happening seems to be happening now, so if you're curious, go check it out. Disclaimer: other than the websearching I did to make this list, I don't know anything about these fandoms, so if you do, please weigh in and correct the record!

AO3 fandom tags for which more works are F/F than any other tag category:

• Bocchi the Rock! (Anime): This is a four-panel manga about some girls who form a rock band, which was adapted as an anime in late 2022.
  
• Willow (TV 2022): Willow isn't new, but the TV adaptation has a canonical princess/knight ship (Kit/Jade) which is the biggest ship in the fandom.
  
• GAP the Series (TV): This romantic comedy is Thailand's first GL series. It finished streaming in February 2023. Mon/Sam is the canonical main ship.
  
• Nevermore - Red & Flynn (Webcomic): This is a sapphic webcomic inspired by Poe. The primary ship is Annabel Lee/Lenore.
  

AO3 fandom tags which have an interesting/new F/F ship, but some other tag category is larger:

• Scream (Movies): This slasher movie franchise is not new, but there were very few F/F works until the 2022 release of Scream 5, and the work count has shot up with this year's Scream 6. Primary ship Tara/Amber.
  
• Octopath Traveler II (Video Game): This is a new-this-year sequel to Octopath Traveler. It's a JRPG, and the primary F/F ship (second biggest overall ship) is Throné/Castti (a thief and an amnesiac apothecary).
